Paris Saint Germain became the first finalist of the 2019/20 campaign after Marquinhos, Di Maria and Juan Bernat scored to book their place into the finals. They will either face Bayern or Lyon at the main stage. Julien Nagelsmann’s dream story with Leipzig ends in the last four stage as his side felt to keep out the likes of Neymar and Mbappe from the game.

PSG opened the scoring from a Angel Di Maria free kick from which Marquinhos nodded in beautifully behind Peter Gulasci. The Brazilian swiftly beat his marker to rose high, above others, to meet it. Neymar came close beforehand, only to be denied by the post from an excellent pass by Mbappe. The latter than beat Upamecano’s marking only to denied by Gulasci after Kevin Kampl lost the ball in midfield.

Neymar almost did the unthinkable, by curling a free kick from an impossible angle with Gulasci scrambling. But PSG didn’t have to wait longer for their second. Gulasci this time committed a fatal mistake in creating the ground for Neymar to assist Di Maria for the second. The Argentine coolly and collectively finish in the bottom corner. The Brazilian came closer to triple the lead right on the stroke of half-time but narrowly missed his placement from a Mbappe pass.

Rb Leipzig came up with energy in the second half but failed to create real scoring chances. The French champions took advantage of it by unleashing a quick counter from which Juan Bernat scored. His first effort was saved by the Hungarian goalkeeper but he didn’t fluff his chance when the ball came back to him. Di Maria turned provider this time. The German opposition tried their best to come up with something in the evening but were simply outclassed. Sergio Rico didn’t had to move a muscle for most part of the game. Thus, PSG enjoyed a fruitful evening after a long run of upsets in the competition proper.
