Lewis Hamilton was late in signing his Mercedes contract this year as after several rumors, the Brit put down his signatures on the contract only in February. Hamilton equaled Michael Schumacher’s record of seven F1 titles last year, and will be chasing his eight championship in the upcoming season.

Lando Norris, McLaren driver, believes that Lewis Hamilton could hang up his helmet if he does manage to win his eight title this year. Norris stated that Hamilton is quite active outside the F1 circuit, and will consider to retire at some time in the near future. He also opined that Hamilton was favorite to win the title this year as well.

Lewis is a guy who loves doing a lot of other things outside of Formula 1. You have one life and if you win eight Championships, I think you have to be very happy with that. If you win one Championship, you probably have to be very happy with that,” said Norris.

But I think he knows what he wants to do and he also wants to go and enjoy his life outside of Formula 1 and for Formula 1 not to take up this whole period of his life. I don’t know, we’ll wait and see, time will tell. I’m sure he will be quite likely to get an eighth championship this year,” he added.

George Russell is a good driver: Norris

Lando Norris also gave his thoughts on George Russell who drove for Mercedes during the Sakhir Grand Prix. He was unfortunate to have missed out on a podium finish after a pit stop mishap and a late puncture made him finish only ninth.

Lando Norris hopes of having good battles with the Williams driver this season, and also praised Russell, calling him a good driver. “George is a good driver and a strong guy and I think everyone was gutted for that one race he did with Mercedes. But he was also lucky to get that opportunity and I think he will maximise everything he can do with Williams,” Norris said.

Hopefully we can have some nice battles this year. Hopefully we’ll be ahead, but I’m sure there will be some little battles along the way and I look forward to them. Being compared to George isn’t a bad thing in my opinion, I know how good a driver he is so I look forward to hopefully our future in Formula 1 together,” the McLaren driver added.
