Lewis Hamilton claims the win at the Portugal GP, as he stretches his lead at the top.

Lewis Hamilton grabbed the second win of the season, as he finished P1 at the Portugal GP on Sunday. The Briton started from the second spot in qualifying, but managed to outrace his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, who took the pole position in Saturday’s qualifying session.

The Brit dominated for vast majority of the race, and it was a comfortable victory in the end. His Mercedes teammate, Valtter Bottas finished P3, after a poor drive. Max Verstappen split the two Mercedes drivers, as he finished P2 to keep the pressure on Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton was delighted after winning the Portugal GP, but stated that it was a tough race, both physically and mentally for him.

Reflecting on the race, Hamilton accepted that he did not have the best start to the race. After the restart, Max Verstappen surpassed him, but he was quick enough to regain his spot.

That was such a tough race physically and mentally. I didn’t get a good start and also lost out at the restart but it was a great result in the end,said Lewis.

The next race of the season will be held in Spain, next week. Lewis Hamilton stated that Mercedes were not at their best on Sunday, but they hope to recover before the Spanish GP. Hamilton has 69 points this season, whereas, Max Verstappen has 61 points to his name. Lando Norris is third in the list, with 37 points.

Today wasn’t all perfect and we need to get ready now for the quick turnaround for Spain,” concluded Hamilton.
