The Minecraft 1.17 is going to be the next big update for the Minecraft community and players are excited for it. In this article we take a look at the list of Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs snapshots released as of May 2021.
The Caves and Cliffs update is the next big update in the game as announced by the developers. Minecraft is a massively popular sandbox game where players can create whatever their mind imagines. The game hadn’t received any major update since its release, but the Nether update and the Caves and Cliffs updates are going to change that. The Nether update has already released and has changed the Nether realm for the better.
In this article we take a look at the Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs snapshots released as of now.
Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs snapshots: May 2021
This was the first snapshot released of Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs and it introduced many new blocks and items. These include amethyst blocks, calcite, copper ores and others. The Amethyst blocks can be found underground from now on.
20w46a and 20w48a
The 20w46a update added a new block to the game. This new block can cool things down and things walking on it will be inflicted with the cold status. It can also be stored in a bucket.
The Snapshot 20w48a added dripstones and dripstone blocks. The pointed Dripstones spawn from dripstone blocks and can fall on the player to deal damage.
This new update introduced the Vibration mechanic to Minecraft. Players can sense vibrations using the sculk sensors. The snapshot also added the dripstone caves, which are filled with pointy dripstones and blocks.
20w51a and 21w03a
These two snapshots introduced two new water mobs to the game. The first one introduced the Axolotls to the game. Moreover, a few changes were made with sculk sensors, boxes and bundles.
The next snapshot added the glow squid. These mobs drop glow ink sacs which can be used to craft a variety of items.
21w05a and 21w05b
The first snapshot added lush caves blocks which includes the moss blocks, hanging vines, azaleas and other vegetations in caves. The second one was a bug fix and a copper block change.
21w06a and 21w07a
These are two of the most major snapshots that have been added. The first one introduced changes to the world generation and world height limit. The new world limit is from Y-axis -64 to 320. It also introduced a new types of caves.
The next Minecraft 1.17 snapshot added grimstone blocks to the game. The Grimstone blocks replace the stone blocks as the players go deeper. Ore generation was also changed a bit.
21w08a and 21w08b
The earlier Grimstone was renamed to Deepslate. Players can now find Deepslate bricks, chiselled deepslates and more.
The next patch removed some bugs with the ore distribution.
21w10a and 21w11a
The 21w10a snapshot added the lush caves in Minecraft. The deepslate block is also added to the game.
The next snapshot fixed a lot of old bugs and fixes in Minecraft.
21w13a and 21w14a
A new mob is added in the 21w13a snapshot that is the goat. Moreover, light source block was also added to the game.
In 21w14a ore mining was changed considerably. Now mining iron, gold or copper drops their raw material. Fortune enchantment also made ores to get more resources.
21w15a and 21w16a
In 21w15a snapshot, the developers reverted back the ore generation and changes because of the two part update. Therefore, they will be added later to the game.
The next snapshot made the pointed dripstones and azaleas grow in the caves. Players can apply bone meal to azaleas to make azalea trees. Dripstone blocks grow into pointed dripstones when there is a water block above.
This snapshot came with the introduction of noodle caves in the Caves and Cliffs preview. It also features some changes to raw ore textures, a few copper changes and a few bug fixes.
21w18a and 21w19a
The first one features a small change in the ore distribution and goat UI changes. It also features a few bug fixes
In the 21w19a snapshot, Candles, Bundles and Sculk Sensors are only accessible through commands. There are also a few changes to geodes and character length for Anvil UI has been increased.
Geodes are rarer after the 21w20a snapshot and also tilling rooted dirt with a Hoe will now convert it into Dirt and pop out a Hanging Roots item. Axolotls now play dead in water. Llamas also no longer spit at the players in peaceful mode.
