Liverpool have signed 5 players across the two transfer windows of the 2020/21 season while only spending £22.5 million. Kostas Tsimikas (£12 million), Thiago Alcantara (£4 million instalment), Diogo Jota (£5 million instalment), Ben Davies (£0.5 million) and Ozan Kabak (£1 million loan) have all made their way to Liverpool this season with Kabak the only one to not have a permanent deal. This summer will see Liverpool extending the contracts of a lot of players while also replacing Gini Wijnaldum.

Outgoing Gini Wijnaldum will have to be replaced while Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho will get new contracts

It is almost inevitable that Gini Wijnaldum will leave Liverpool at the end of this season as contract negotiations have broken down. Liverpool last gave him a contract offer at the start of December and haven’t attempted again. Gini Wijnaldum also hasn’t budged in his contract demands and it is looking increasingly likely that Liverpool will replace him. Yves Bissouma, Renato Sanches and Eston Camavinga are the names being floated around as replacements.

Along with that, it can be expected that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Origi will also leave as they haven’t had game time in recent matches. Both of them are in terrible form and Liverpool will do good in offloading them and getting better recruits. Fabrizio Romano also reported that Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are primed to have their contracts renewed in the summer. The club is looking to tie them down beyond 2023 and after the departure of Jurgen Klopp in 2024.

It can be safely said that Liverpool will expect major outgoings and replacements, while also tying down some important players for the future.
