Manchester United go into this match just like Liverpool does- a draw will be enough to qualify. PSG come into this match out of form but with a fire as they need a win to get a chance of qualification going in to Matchday 6. Things will become more complicated if PSG draw with Manchester United while RB Leipzig win against Istanbul Basaksehir.
Manchester United’s form comes as a surprise to their own fans
No one would have expected United to be sitting comfortably at the second Group of Death. No one would have expected them to beat last season’s finalists and semi-finalists playing like the team they once were. But here they are sitting at the top of the table needing just one point to get second place atleast. Next up is Leipzig for them and it really looks like Leipzig and PSG’s turn to fight it out for qualification.
Manchester United come off a fabulous comeback win against Southampton when ex-PSG striker Edinson Cavani played the super-sub role with two goals. It is a doubt if he’ll play though since he is caught in a racial abuse storm when he used the word ‘negrito’ in his Instagram story. It would seem that it is used in a non-offending way in South America, but wasn’t Luis Suarez subjected to so much of abuse for this? He was banned for 10 matches and shouldn’t Cavani face the same ban? They’re from the same country and so this is a new brainer. If not for 10 matches, atleast a minimum of 3 matches must be given.
Despite all this Manchester United did defeat PSG the last time they met at the Parc Des Princes. Now their destiny is in their own hands if they hope to qualify and they will hope to do that with a bang.
Manchester United: Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Eric Bailly
PSG: Juan Bernat, Marquinhos (doubtful), Julian Draxler (doubtful), Thilo Kehrer (doubtful), Juan Bernat
Manchester United: Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles, Matic, Van de Beek, Fernandes, Rashford, Cavani
PSG: Navas, Florenzi, Pereria, Kimpembe, Bakker, Veratti, Gueye, Herrera, Di Maria, Mbappe, Neymar
Both teams will be playing for a win with PSG having more need for it. However Manchester United will be more than content to sit back and defend and then counter-attack. We predict a 1-1 draw.
