At the moment it seems as if every tournament in which Marton Fucsovics and Andrey Rublev participate in, they are destined to face each other at some point in the tournament. The duo have clashed against each other two times this year, at the Dubai Open and the Rotterdam Open, with Rublev winning on both occasions.

There could have been three meetings between the pair in the past month, if Fucsovics had no retired from the Qatar Open quarterfinal clash against Rublev. The Hungarian had to give a walkover to Rublev due to an injury. They first clashed at the Rotterdam Open in the final, where Rublev won in straight sets. At the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Russian defeated Fucsovics again in straight sets.

Marton Fucsovics had a funny reaction after losing to Rublev at the Dubai Open last week. While walking off court, the Hungarian said, “I hope I don’t play you anymore this year.” This invited some laughter from Andrey Rublev who was packing his tennis bag.

Andrey Rublev and Fucsovics to clash again in the third round of Miami Open 2021?

Marton Fucsovics and Andrey Rublev are on a collision course at the Miami Open 2021. The duo are in the same quarter of the draw and can face each other in the third round if they win their respective second round matches. Both players have received a bye in the first round.

Andrey Rublev saw his 23 match winning streak at ATP 500 events end last week after he lost to his fellow countryman, Aslan Karatsev in the semifinals of Dubai Open 2021. The Russian also lost in the semifinals of the Qatar Open to Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets. However, he did manage to win the Rotterdam Open title a few weeks ago. He will look forward to winning his first Masters title in Miami, as several top guns have withdrawn from the tournament.
