With G.O.A.T talks happening very often and the pound for pound ranks changing very often, Max Holloway expressed his opinion about who should be the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter in his opinion.

He said, “How are you in the pound for pound ranking when you never even dabbled in another weight class or you didn’t even talk about going to another class?”

“If you’re just staying in your lane, then that’s not a no.1 pound for pound guy. I think a No.1 pound for pound guy is someone who is willing to fight anyone. You know, anyone, any weight class, anytime, anywhere.”

This is a bold statement to make, but considering today’s scenario many fighters prefer not to move up or down a weight class, they tend to compete near their natural weight but those who do are considered special for sure.

Is Max taunting Khabib in an in-direct way?

Max Holloway vs Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement after his father’s death and he says that he has no plan of coming back, even after 4 months from his retirement fans and Dana White are positive that he might come back.

According to Dana White, Khabib was looking forward to UFC 257 and said that if anyone can surprise him and put on a performance that can force him to come back then his fighter spirit would bring him back in the octagon.

Holloway delivered at his fight against Kattar and even called Khabib out, these two were booked to face each other at UFC 223 but the fight couldn’t happen, and now this statement from Holloway might be an in-direct taunt towards the former champ because he is on top of the pound for pound rankings and he never competed in any weight class other than lightweight.
