Messi parade comes out in Rosario as Newell’s Old Boys want a reunion with Messi

Messi Parade at Rosario

Lionel Messi’s boyhood club wants him to once again get back to them. The club’s fans took to the road with a parade pushing to convince the Argentine to join back. The main slogan being heard there was “Your dream, our desire“. Messi left this young club in 2001 to join Barcelona where he won 6 Ballon d’Ors and plenty of other glories.

The 33-year old is now looking for a potential transfer as he prepares to leave Camp Nou. He is most likely to sign for Manchester City, however, Newell’s hopes of bringing Messi back have not died either. The parade had a lot of waving red and black flags with occasional flares and innumerable forms of Messi merchandise.

Even the English supporters’ clubhead for Newell, Jamie Ralph considers the reunion as almost impossible. In his latest interview, he stated that “Personally I think it’s a bit too soon, but what people need to understand is that Newell’s have a bit of a track record of pulling flagship signings out of nowhere, and that’s why people think it’s not that impossible“. Giving an example of Maradona, Ralph also gathered some positiveness.

Newell’s Old Boys think that it is not impossible to bring in Messi

Diego Maradona was at Sevilla in Spain – he was only 33, so he was the same age as Messi – and he came back and signed for Newell’s, which was unbelievable at the time“. Ralph said that the money never matters if they can have their old young lad back when he is in the prime of his career. “There’s a bit of romanticism going on. I do think Messi will play for Newell’s one day, but personally think it’s a little bit too soon“, Ralph clearly portrayed his love for Messi and wish to get Argentine back.

Newell’s Old Boys director also quoted about Messi to play for the club just as Maradona did. “As directors we have to provide the best context possible to help him make a decision. When Maradona came to Newell’s nobody thought he could come. I hope that something similar can happen with Leo“.

Newell’s vice president Cristian D’Amico has said that he will be very happy to welcome Messi and the doors will always be open. The director at Newell’s Old Boys also stated that it may not be impossible but still “I don’t know if it is impossible. It is all up to him and his family“. Time is worthy of all the things at the moment and with time Messi will also reveal his future plans silencing all the rumours floating around.
