Messi scored 500 goals for the Rosario based club in his youth career. He joined the argentine youth club when he was just 6-years old before Barcelona signed him when he 14-years of age.

After toppling the lead in the La Liga, tensions arise of his return back to his boyhood club.

D’Amico, the director of the club says it would be difficult for the Argentine to move back to his hometown Rosario due to some family reasons.

“I don’t know if it is impossible. It is all up to him and his family,” – D’Amico said.

“As directors we have to provide the best context possible to help him make a decision. When Maradona came to Newell’s nobody thought he could come.

“I hope that something similar can happen with Leo.

“Obviously we shouldn’t be making things up, this is a delicate subject. What Newell’s doesn’t dream of seeing the world’s best player in their team’s colours? Time will tell maybe; we have to stay calm.”

Recently, Ignacio Scocco one of the prolific striker joined the Rosario club on a free-transfer for his fourth spell after winning heaps of silverware at River Plate.

Maxi Rodriguez who played alongside Messi in the 2010 World Cup talks about his return to his boyhood club:

“I hope he comes at some point. It would be a dream for fans. There’s a family behind him and that can be tricky.”

But if he is coming, he’d better make it soon or else I won’t be able to play with him at Newell’s!” – as Rodriguez joked.
