Milan vs Bologna: Milan hosted Bologna in Round 31 of the Serie A at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan.

It was not Milan’s night at the San Siro as the Rossoneri huffed and puffed but could not get past Bologna’s stubborn defence. Milan had a mammoth 33 attempted shots on goal and 7 on target, but it was not enough to beat Lukasz Skorupski in Bologna’s goal. The away team put their bodies on the line in the final minutes to keep the table toppers at bay.

Let’s take a look at the player ratings for the match: –

Mike Maignan (8.1/10): Maignan was exceptional in the goal with 4 amazing saves to keep his 11th clean sheet of the season.

Davide Calabria (7.2/10): Calabria had a good game on the right flank. He came forward when needed and defended the wide areas well.

Pierre Kalulu (8.1/10): Kalulu was brilliant in the backline and used his body well to defend. He also completed the most passes in the match.

Fikayo Tomori (8.4/10): Tomori’s defensive positioning was admirable as he won almost all of his tackles and made a handful of recoveries.

Theo Hernandez (8.5/10): Hernandez had a tremendous night as he was good both in defence and attack. He made many dribbles as well as made a couple of important challenges.

Sandro Tonali (8.4/10): Tonali had an immaculate presence in the midfield. His vision and creativity made way for some important plays. He was also the most accurate passer in the game.

Ismael Bennacer (8/10): Bennacer had a brilliant game in the midfield as he distributed the ball well. He also won 11 duels in the match, which was the most.

Junior Messias (6.2/10): Messias was average on the right wing. He did not have any shots on target and was taken off in half-time.

Brahim Diaz (7.9/10): The attacking midfielder was quick and went past defenders with ease. He completed 5 dribbles- most in the match.

Rafael Leao (7/10): Leao had a total of 8 shots out of which only 1 was on target. He tried to create chances but was unsuccessful.

Olivier Giroud (6.8/10): Giroud was decent upfront as he took many shots and placed them on target as well, but could not find the back of the net before being substituted.

Substitutes:

Ante Rebic (6.8/10): Rebic came on for the second half and could have put Milan in front in the dying minutes with a header, but the Bologna keeper diverted the shot.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (6.3/10): Ibrahimovic had a late stoppage-time chance to get a winner but he did not capitalize and put the header wide off target.

Franck Kessie (6.5/10): Kessie came on for Bennacer and operated well in the midfield.

Lukasz Skorupski (8.8/10): Skorupski made 7 prolific saves to snatch a point for Bologna. He was named Player of the Match for his performance.

Adama Soumaoro (7.1/10): Soumaoro had a sufficient match in defence, but he had the least touches of any player despite being a defender.

Gary Medel (7.3/10): Medel was solid in the back. He made crucial clearances and was good in the air. He was replaced late in the match as he got injured in an aerial dual.

Arthur Theate (7/10): Theate made a flurry of clearances and interceptions to keep Bologna in the game in the final minutes and kept a clean sheet.

Mitchell Dijks (7/10): Dijks patrolled the left flank well as he was part of some important attacks in the final third.

Michel Aebischer (7.3/10): Aebischer made his presence felt in the midfield with his range of passing and possession play.

Jerdy Schouten (7.6/10): Schouten imposed himself into the game and was effective in regaining balls. His passing accuracy was too good for a midfield player.

Mattias Svanberg (6.5/10): Svanberg had a decent match in the middle of the pitch. He was replaced by Soriano in the second half due to his ineffectiveness.

Aaron Hickey (6.8/10): Hickey attracted the most fouls in the game as he was quick through the gaps. He was replaced in the second half due to an injury.

Musa Barrow (5.5/10): Barrow lost many challenges and did not look potent in the attacks. He got injured and was replaced by Orsolini.

Marko Arnautovic (6/10): Arnautovic had a mediocre game as he could not put a shot on target. He did not create enough chances to pose a threat.

Riccardo Orsolini (5/10): Though he played for just 30 minutes, Orsolini lost the most duals in the match and also got booked for a silly challenge.

Denso Kasius (6.5/10): Kasius came on for the injured Hickey and carried out his duties well on the right wing.

Roberto Soriano (6.1/10): Soriano was not impactful in the attack but helped the team in its defence.
