Minecraft Goat: All you need to know

Minecraft 1.17 part 1 recently came out and is called the Caves and Cliffs update. Many new additions have been made along with a lot of bugfixes and the world has been changed in noticeable ways. In this article we take a look at, Minecraft Goat, one of the new mobs that has been introduced in this patch.

Minecraft has a lot of mobs that the players can tame, fight and even use as transport! These mobs roam the wide Overworld of Minecraft and can be found in the nook and cranny of every biome in the world. The developers have introduced a new expansion after very long and this brings in 4 different and unique new mobs for the players to befriend, fight or farm.

With the changes in mountains and caves with the new update, various mobs have been added to these locations. The Minecraft Goat is a resident of high mountains and rams the player to the moon!

Many new mobs have been added in Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update and one of them is the Goat.

Spawn and Locations

The Goat is a neutral mob found in mountain biomes and on top of snowy cliffs. They spawn in groups of two or three above opaque blocks on mountains. There is a 5% chance for a goat to spawn as a baby Goat. Moreover, when a goat spawn or is born, it has a 2% chance to be a “Screaming Goat”. This mob will be discussed a little later down below.

  • The Goats may jump up to 10 blocks high into the air when trying to cross obstacles. This has a 30-60 second cooldown.
  • Goats never walk over Powder Snow and avoid it.
  • They take less fall damage.
  • Goats ram any mob around them or a still player and knockback them up to 9 blocks away. Back goats ram knockback 4.5 blocks away.
  • Attacking goats will make them flee, like passive mobs.
  • Goats can be bred with wheat.

Drops

  • Goats drop goat horn when struck against a solid block.
  • They drop experience if killed by players or tamed wolves.
  • Goats can be milked using a bucket.

Screaming Goat

The Screaming Goat is a rare mob in Minecraft that has a 2% chance of spawning. It looks identical to normal goats but is distinct in its sound effects. They make loud screaming noises every so often and ram a lot more as their ram has a lower cooldown.
