The Minecraft Pufferfish is a mob that spawns in lukewarm ocean biomes in groups of 1-3. They do not spawn in lake or rivers or cave underwater bodies.
Pufferfish will inflate themselves when approached by any player or mobs. This inflation will cause the thorns on its body to stand up and will prick any players that approach it. It applies 2-5 seconds of Poison which damages the player over time.
After the danger has passed, they slowly deflate.
However, Pufferfish also has its natural enemies that it stays wary of. They can be easily killed by the Impaling Enchantment and also if they come out of water. The mobs that they hurt also start attacking them unless they are dead.
