The Sports ministry addressed the High Court seeking its authorization to give annual provision recognition to 30 to 54 Federations. This was filled with a perspective over the HC’s 24th June’s order to give provisional renewal of recognition to the NSFs. Also seeking the permission to cancel the suspension of recognition of 3 NSF’ s and renew their annual identification. The hearing is scheduled on July 2nd, these decisions are eagerly awaited.

The application sent out to the High Court stating that the earlier decision taken by the ministry was unintended and not deliberate. A bench of Justices like Hima Kohli and Najmi Waziri had vocalized that the ministry tried to “overreach” the high court’s February order.

Advocate and activist Rahul Mehra identified that the affidavit sent by the Sports Ministry requests to scrap out the suspension of 3 NSF’s, specifically, IGU, SGFI and RFI. The same had also filed a PIL, suggesting a thorough investigation in the working of various sports bodies, including Hockey India and Indian Olympic Association.

The application, filed via Central government standing counsel Anil Soni, invoked, “To grant consent to the ministry to give annual recognition for 2020 provisionally till September 30 to all those NSFs which had the government recognition as on December 31, 2019 and to those NSFs whose suspended recognition has been revoked after December 31, 2019, total 57 in number.”
