Although it has been quite some time since Gautam Gambhir retired from all forms of cricket, the southpaw manages to find a place in the top 5. The elegant batter led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to two titles – in 2012 and 2014. He was at the forefront of these victories with his batting.

The left-handed batsman hit 491 fours in his career but he could be surpassed this year by sixth placed Rohit Sharma who has 458.

4. Suresh Raina – 493 fours

Suresh Raina has been one of the most consistent players in the history of the IPL. Appearing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Lions (GL) for two years when the former was banned, the UP batsman has always ensured that he keeps the scoreboard ticking with his batting.

Raina has hit a total of 493 fours in his IPL career and can add to the tally this year when he takes the field for CSK yet again.

3. Virat Kohli – 503 fours

Number 3 on the list is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Indian team captain Virat Kohli. Playing for RCB right from the very beginning, Kohli has been the face of the side. Even amidst the team’s struggle to win an IPL trophy that keeps continuing, the reliable batter has kept putting up consistent performances.

Kohli has hit a total of 503 fours and will add to the tally this year as well.

2. David Warner – 510 fours

The only overseas batter in the top 5, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner is without a doubt one of the greatest performers in the history of the tournament. The swashbuckling Australian has been crucial for SRH in providing blazing starts and he has been one of the most reliable batters for the side.

Warner has hit a total of 510 fours and is expected to score more this season as well.

Topping the list and way ahead of the rest is Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Shikhar Dhawan. The left-handed batsman is another player who has been the hallmark of consistency in the IPL as an opener. Dhawan continues to go strong and is expected to only pull away from the rest, if he continues the form from last year.
