The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a below-par Indian Premier League (IPL) season last year as they finished outside the playoff spots for the first time ever in their history. Their batting did not come together as a unit throughout the tournament and it was only a late surge orchestrated by Ruturaj Gaikwad that led the side to three consecutive wins towards the end of the league stages which in turn helped avoid the wooden spoon.

This time around, the MS Dhoni-led side has roped in the likes of K Gowtham, Moeen Ali, Cheteshwar Pujara and Robin Uthappa (trade window) with the hopes of fashioning a comeback to get back to the vintage CSK that IPL fans are accustomed to. The onus will be on skipper Dhoni to deliver as well after a season of lows and if the nets sessions are anything to go by, Dhoni fans are in for a treat.

The Chennai Super Kings took to the nets early in March and had session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai before shifting to Mumbai for their campaign opener against the Delhi Capitals. Skipper MS Dhoni was among those who has been with the team ever since training kicked off and the official social media handles of CSK have been treating their fans to some big shots from Dhoni via videos from the sessions.

Today, the side shared a video of Dhoni smashing bowlers around the park. They captioned it, “Thala Paraak fully loaded!” CSK fans would certainly hope their ‘Thala’ brings the same kind of form on field as well, even as the final years of his career beckons.
