RP Singh has been among the few players who have seen Dhoni’s rise on the international stage

We used to complain that he never takes our calls. Once he told Munaf (Patel) and I, that, when he retires, he would pick up the phone in just half-a-ring. Now we will check if really has retired. We always exploited his extra allowance which captains are entitled to! On a serious note, cricketers’ off-field interactions are not very different from ones on the field. We often end up talking about matches and players so it was fun with him,” Singh said.

RP Singh calls MS Dhoni as ‘The Beast’

RP Singh has not just played under Dhoni’s captaincy internationally but also in the IPL( Rising Pune Supergiants)

MS Dhoni has throughout his cricketing career maintained an average social profile. Much opposite to cricket players these days. Dhoni could only be seen only via his wife Sakshi’s social media handles. Dhoni has always been a player who has stuck to his grassroots and stayed low.

RP Singh reveals that it was very difficult to reach out to the former Indian captain.

Dhoni came into the Ganguly-led team as a lower order, hard-hitting batsman. As time rolled by, Dhoni’s performances kept him on registering in the history books. MS stands as the only captain in the history of the sport to have won all 3 ICC trophies.

RP Singh also spoke on the comparison between Australia’s Michael Bevan and MS Dhoni. According to Singh, Bevan has been one of the game’s finest finishers, while Dhoni was a different beast and cricket might not see another player like him ever.

The craze around the much-awaited tournament has reached its crescendo after Dhoni’s retirement. Cricketing fans all around the world are keen on witnessing not just Dhoni’s captaincy but just his presence on the field.
