‘My Roland Garros injury came back’ Stefanos Tsitsipas doubtful about defending ATP Finals title

Stefanos Tsitsipas, lost to young Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the first round of the ATP Paris Masters earlier this week. The match lasted for three and a half hours during which the Greek felt that his injury, which he picked up while competing at the Roland Garros, was aggravated.
Tsitsipas even pulled himself out of the doubles category at the Paris Masters owing to the injury.
The injury had me on the edge of things: Tsitsipas

The Greek believes the reason behind his loss against Humbert was the injury that began to bother him from the second set onwards. It pushed his performance down as he was not sure about being out there.
“During the second set my Roland Garros injury came back, and it wasn’t as bad as at the French Open, but it kind of had me on the edge of things, and I wasn’t sure if that’s good for me to be out there,” Tsitsipas said post-match.
However, Tsitsipas has no regrets and was happy that he fought till the end despite the pain.
“But that’s not an excuse, for sure. I still fought and gave my best out there, despite this thing that I had on the court. I’m sad, for sure,” he added.
Currently, Tsitsipas is unsure about his fitness levels and seems apprehensive about his presence at the ATP Finals this year.
“Right now, I don’t know. I really don’t know,” Tsitsipas said when asked if he will play the ATP Finals.
Tsitsipas was a surprise winner in ATP Finals in London last year, and has already qualified to get to the O2 again to defend his crown although there are doubts whether fans will get to see him or not.
The ATP Finals 2020 will begin on 15th November.
