NASCAR hit the Fontana Auto Club Speedway for the second round of Cup Series, the Wise Power 400. Californian native and Reigning Cup Series Champion Kyle Larson took home the victory after he held off Daniel Suarez and Austin Dillon in the last lap to secure his second career win at Fontana.
One of the drivers who impressed most in the chaotic track which saw 12 cautions coming out was the Trackhouse Racing team’s Mexican driver, and former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, Daniel Suarez. Though Daniel Suarez wasn’t able to maintain a full lap lead he was hot on the heels of the Race leader throughout after moving up from his starting position P15.
When champion Kyle Larson acknowledged that “There were some guys that were quicker than us,” in the post-race interview he would have counted Daniel Suarez on his number 99 Thrackhouse Chevrolet, as one of them. Daniel Suarez pushed Kyle Larson hard in the final restart and was successful in securing the lead but Kyle Larson snatched it back with just two laps remaining.
Daniel Suarez would end finished fourth after Austin Dillon and Erik Jones took the opportunity to overtake him during his advancement on Kyle Larson. The top 4 finished cars were all Chevrolet with the only other team finishing at top 5 coming from Penske racings Joey Logano in his Ford.
