The New Orleans Pelicans beat defending Eastern Conference Champions Miami Heat in their pre-season encounter 114-92. Led by their marquee player Zion Williamson, who scored 26 points for the team. However, for the Heat Tyler Herro started and scored 17 points. Whereas Bam Adebayo had a relatively slow-paced start to the game. Heat only used 7. On the other hand, Pelicans used only 5 players from the bench and their started line-up was the one which might be the same even in the regular 2020-21 season.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Miami Heat – As it Happened

Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler

1st quarter-

As the Heat did not have the services of Butler or Dragic, they were dependent on Herro, Robinson and Adebayo to score points. These players started off in offensive fashion and got the points for the Heat. Whereas the Pelicans started with all of their marquee players Williamson, Ingram, Ball and Josh Hart. After the first quarter Pelicans led 32-30.

2nd quarter-

Although there were rigorous efforts from Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo to close down the gap with the Pelicans, it seemed too easy for the star-studded Pelicans to score. Going into half Pelicans lead by 7 points, 60-53.

3rd quarter-

Ever since the game started after the half, Heat only kept falling behind. Whereas the magic of Williamson and Ingram was too much for a Butler-Dragic ledd Miami Heat. Max Strus was the only player from the bench from the Heat who was able to find the basket. As the 3rd quarter ended 85-72.

4th quarter-

As Heat needed to go all guns out in this quarter in order to have any chance of winning, that wasn’t the case as the Pelicans were superb offensively as well as defensively. Outplaying the Heat in the last quarter also, Heat scored 29-20 in the 4th.
