Booker needed just 4 points to get to the 10,000 points mark at the start of the game. He got those points with an 11-foot pull-up jump shot. Devin Booker became the 7th youngest to get to the mark, only behind LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Devin Booker blames Coach Hornacek for not being at 12k points already

Devin Booker in a post-game interview told what this milestone means to him personally. He quoted – Honestly, this one means a lot. I think 10k is better than the 5, 6,7. I feel like it’s a real milestone that I hit.”

Devin Booker was the 13th pick in the 2015 NBA draft. He came out of Kentucky College, which is known to produce some of the best players. Booker used to often be criticized for scoring points but not winning games. Booker once scored even 70 points in a game against the Celtics in 2017 in a losing cause. But in the past two years, he has shown how effective he can be in leading his team to victories.

Booker also took a jibe at the former Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek as he didn’t give Booker the minutes he gets now. He quoted – “If Hornacek put me in more, I’d be at about 12K right now.”

Hornacek was the Head Coach of the Phoenix Suns from 2013 to 2016. Hornacek played Booker 27 minutes per game in his rookie year. After Hornacek was fired in 2016, Booker saw an increase in playing time starting the very next season. Since then, Booker has averaged close to 35 minutes per game every season.

So, maybe Booker would have reached the 12K mark if he had played more minutes in his rookie year, being the scorer that he is.
