“Just play and go home”- Lonzo Ball reveals how he avoided Covid-19 while most of the Chicago Bulls roster got sidelined

Recently, several Chicago Bulls players have been in and out of covid protocols. The Bulls, after redesigning their team this year, are having a fantastic season.  Their star player Zach Lavine is still not fit to play, while their other star who is playing at an MVP level, Damar DeRozan, has just been cleared to play. Their point guard Lonzo Ball is also a huge part of their success this year, and luckily for him, he has not contacted covid 19 yet.

“I mean, I just play and go back home” said Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball is averaging 42 percent from three and is part of an explosive Bulls squad the success of which relies on Ball’s accurate passing and court vision. He is very valuable to the team’s offense as well as defense, and he has been smart enough to realize this. Staying away from the glamorous NBA lifestyle can often be tough, especially for the stars, but Ball has managed to do so this season.

On Tuesday, in a media interaction post the Bulls Rockets game, Lonzo Ball revealed how simple it is for him to not catch covid 19. He said, “I mean, I don’t really do too much. I just play and go back home.”

Bulls are struggling with COVID protocols

The Bulls are second in the east, which when compared to finishing 11th in the regular season last year, they must be happy with where they are. But this will not stay for long as more and more players keep getting covid 19. There is only so much the role players can do, the team needs its stars on a consistent basis if it wishes to push deep into the playoffs.

Bulls are not the only team struggling due to covid protocols, the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, who are also title contenders in the east, recently had to sit out their stars Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo respectively. If it keeps on going like this, soon this NBA would have to consider putting the season on hold. With the new covid 19 variant Omicron on the rise, the situation could get worse. The only way to contain the spread within the league is if all the players followed the example of Lonzo Ball and avoided outside interaction.
