LA Lakers vs Oklahoma City Thunder Game Preview

During their first meeting the Lakers were able to catch an early lead of almost 30 points in the first half. Anthony Davis and Russel Westbrook both helped gain that lead with a few valuable steals and good ball facilitating. Eventually it was almost as if the Lakers had gotten too confident and olayed it cool. Towards the end of the second quarter is when the Thunder began to catch up.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rookie Josh Giddey had taken over during the third and fourth quarter. The Lakers missed two opportunities during the final seconds after air balling two threes to tie the game at 118-118. The Lakers had slowed down defensively during this time unlike the first half of the game. Shai ended the game with 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Davis’ 30 point game and Westbrook’s triple did not do any justice for the Lakers at the end.

After surprising everybody with a huge victory, the Thunder may have another shot in defeating the players in purple and gold. Rookie Josh Giddey was a major contributor towards their win last week. The Lakers however have found a system with the big three. The absence of LeBron James in the previous game could have been a key factor to their loss as he is a very impactful leader on the court.
