Stephen A. Smith believed he couldn’t be more wrong, after his prediction favoring Devin Booker went down the hole, well he was. The ESPN analyst was aghast as the Phoenix Suns collapsed like a house of cards to Luka Doncic’s army of Mavericks, as they bottled a 2-0 lead of the series for a consecutive 2nd time in the NBA playoffs. While Smith was devastated and slandered Chris Paul and Devin Booker for not showing up when it mattered, he took to twitter and vented his anger on Devin Booker from another ‘Multiverse’.

Luka Doncic come to Phoenix with one mission, destroy, obliterate and overcome. Mission Accomplished and in quite some fashion too as Doncic scored 35 points while Spencer Dinwiddie added 30 to help Mavericks blitz past Suns with a 123-90 knockout victory on Sunday night. The Mavericks pounced on to a 57-27 lead over the top-seeded Phoenix Suns at halftime and never looked back, advancing to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2011.

Phoenix’s All-Star backcourt of Paul and Devin Booker was rocked to the core and couldn’t recover at all , Booker finished with a measly 11 points and shot 3 of 14 while Paul had 10 points and four assists, as the two stars shot a combined 7-22 from the field. The Suns shot just 37.9% from the field as Cam Johnson led all Suns scorers with 12 points off of the bench.

The Suns took a pounding on social media after the calamitic display at Footprint Centre. Smith was one of those people going after the Suns, taking his criticism to Twitter. While slamming the Suns, he admitted how horribly wrong his prediction was, while praising the outstanding Mavericks. Then he called the Suns “pathetically awful” and said Paul and Booker were “no-shows.” Just like his prediction, he got this terribly wrong, as he tagged both players in the tweet but wound up tagging a different Devin Booker.

The Devin Booker he tagged is an American professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Basketball Super League and EuroLeague. He hilariously joked about Smith calling Booker a ‘no-show’, as he said :

“I didn’t know I was supposed to show up. I had a game in Istanbul the same day. I’ll be ready next time

Stephen A. Smith made a mistake by believing in the Suns, but he wasn’t alone. The manner in which the Suns suffered a 43-point defeat in on of their biggest games in franchise history, despite having a record breaking 64-win season is incomprehensible. This does not take away the Heroics of Luka Doncic and the Mavericks who turned up the ante when it mattered. The fans had a hearty laugh over this incident on twitter, after the ‘wrong’ Devin Booker responded.
