Jayson Tatum blasts referee over Al Horford’s ejection as top-seeded Celtics shockingly lose against Magic

Al Horford-Moritz Wagner foul play and Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum is really a real one out there. As recently he backed up his teammate, Al Horford who registered the second ejection of his 16-year-long career and the refs played a crucial role in it. As it was unbelievable for Jayson Tatum that the game officials handed Horford an ejection for his exchange with Moritz Wagner.

Recently, the Boston Celtics hosted the Orlando Magic at TD Garden. The Cs weren’t playing up to mark which gave out an opportunity to Orlando to pull some Magic. And, that’s exactly what they did by winning the game at 117-109. But in the third quarter when Tatum and the team were trying to get a comeback and start playing some winning ball they lost Al Horford.

Al Horford was handed out a “Flagrant 2 Foul” for making unnecessary and excessive contact against Moritz Wagner. The flagrant-2 came with automatic ejection and the struggling Celtics lost Horford for the rest of the game. Horford’s ejection seem senseless to many around and even Jayson is one of them as in the post-game interview even he addressed the incident.

It was Moritz Wagner who fouled Al Horford first and kept trying to get under his skin. The officials weren’t able to see that and call a foul against Wagner. So Al Horford took the matter into his hands and thought to settle it with an elbow. As he hit Moritz in the groin area. Jayson Tatum also believes the same and was riding with Horford’s decision after the game during the presser.

Jayson Tatum during his post-game interview discussing the exchange which got Al Horford ejected said: “I didn’t think that was the right call.  That was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe Al got thrown out the game. I didn’t think that was warranted. Especially once they went to go review they saw that Mo fouled him first that’s how I got to shoot the free throws.”

Further, Jayson Tatum added: “Sometimes guys get tired of people grabbing on them and the ref not seeing it. So as a grown man you take it in your hands and you give somebody up off of you, and that’s all he did, just got him up off him because he was getting fouled. I don’t think Al deserved to get thrown out of the game at all.”

Al Horford was ejected in the third quarter with 10 minutes and 39 seconds remaining on the clock. He suited up for 16 minutes and contributed with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Tatum though dropped 31 points, 3 assists and 7 rebounds. While Jaylen Brown got 26 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds. The duo sent out their best possible efforts. But those weren’t enough to get past the Orlando Magic squad who have now registered 5 straight dubs.
