“Women athletes are treated like TRASH” LeBron James’ staggering $37 Million is more than entire WNBA’s payslip combined
LeBron James and Jewell Lloyd
LeBron James has once again made it to the NBA headlines and unexpectedly this time it’s because of his salary. The King like every other time unfortunately grabs all the unwanted attention to his name and gets criticized by millions around the globe. But again he has to live with it as he is the face of the league and “The Chosen One” as we all know. LeBron James’ contract is currently getting compared with the entire WNBA as there is a wild gap between the two numbers and fans aren’t riding with it as they have started an online war while expressing their opinions on the pay gap.
LeBron James last year single-handedly earned $37 million and more. While the whole WNBA combined made only $12 million. So it’s fair to say that the Sports World is still unaware of the concept of Equal Pay even though efforts have been made to get the women athletes on the same page as men are. LeBron James’ salary for last season was more than triple of what the whole WNBA got. But honestly, Bron has nothing to do with the comparison or even the conversation. He just made the headlines because of being the face of the league.
But there are stars and superstars in the NBA who are minting more money than LeBron James every year. Some of those names are Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, John Wall and Kevin Durant most of these players are getting a bag around $40 million to even $47 million. The highest paid WNBA star is Jewell Lloyd earning an average of $231,515 a season (signed with the Seattle Storm on a two-year $463,030 contract). If this amount is compared with NBA it will be very disrespectful to the WNBA. As the veteran minimum contract in the NBA is listed at $1.81 million.
