“Draymond is right…you’re sh*t” Trae Young joins ‘NEW-MEDIA-GANG’ to clap back at Skip Bayless

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young fires back at NBA analyst Skip Bayless for his remarks on the Hawks' new addition Dejounte Murray.

Players around the league and now Trae Young has grown sick of the unreliable hot takes from the “old media.” After embracing Draymond Green and his ability to clap back at analysts, he responded to Skip Bayless’ most recent comments of him and the Atlanta Hawks player made that much quite obvious. After  Bayless, a Fox Sports commentator, called the Atlanta Hawks’ signing of Dejounte Murray “an indictment” on the star point guard, Young snapped back at him.

Young said on Twitter that Bayless should stop referring to himself as “real/old media” and start getting used to the term “new media,” which athletes like Draymond Green and others have used to describe themselves. Although it is obvious that Bayless used it as a ploy to get viewers to the most recent Undisputed show, Ice Trae is not giving in and responded in a furious manner.

Trae Young finally gets his co-superstar!

The acquisition of Dejounte Murray by Atlanta was everything from a “indictment” of Trae Young. The primary objective of the trade was to provide the emerging star with a new technique with which to compete for an NBA championship. The Hawks acquired Murray from the San Antonio Spurs last week in exchange for Danilo Gallinari, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2025 first-round pick, a 2026 pick swap and a 2027 first-round pick.

Since being chosen fifth overall in the NBA draft in 2018, Young has served as a foundation for the Hawks. In the 2021–22 season, he averaged 28.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 9.7 assists while shooting 46 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from three-point range. The Hawks went on to finish ninth in the Eastern Conference and lost to the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs. The team realised it needed to add a star player to go along with Young going into this summer, which is why they got Murray.

In his sixth season in San Antonio, Murray had a breakthrough year, averaging 21.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from outside the arc in 68 games. In 2022, he was chosen an All Star, and in 2018, he was a representative of the All-NBA Defensive team. The 25-year-old will likely improve Atlanta’s starting lineup, which also features John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, and Clint Capela. He should provide a strong complement to Young as the team’s shooting guard.

Young with an ultimate response to Skip Bayless for his comments on Murray

The FOX Sports analyst tweeted an odd opinion about how trading for Dejounte Murray by the Hawks was a “indictment” of Young. Then, referring to Young’s issues with outside shooting and turnovers, Bayless labeled him “overrated” and “worse than Westbrook.” Taking shots at Young is nothing new for Bayless. Bayless stated in April that he thought LaMelo Ball will have a more successful career than Young. Young immediately reacted, calling Bayless “lame” and indicating that he lacks the right to call the player nicknames.

Despite the fact that such commentary is just opinion and lacking in any kind of supporting evidence, it just appears to be the current practice to create a crazy view on players. Draymond Green, who has essentially become the face of “new media,” has been calling for more journalistic ethics while judging people like Skip Bayless and others for some time and Young is undoubtedly another fan Dray now has.
