Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty of the first-degree intentional homicide and four felony charges thrown at him. The jurors deliberated and eventually agreed that Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense in the said Kenosha shooting that killed two people and severely injured another person.
To recall, the tragic incident happened during the height of social unrest in the country amid racial injustices. Having said that, ever since the verdict has come, athletes from all over the world have taken a stand on Kyle Rittenhouse’s verdict, particularly NBA and NFL players.
NBA Social Justice Coalition releases statement
Following the aftermath of the Kyle Rittenhouse ruling in Wisconsin, National Basketball Social Justice Coalition Executive Director James Cadogan released a statement. As we sometimes do with issues that are larger than basketball, we’ve decided to let the voice of the NBA Social Justice Coalition hold the floor, closing the comment section for this post.
“Our thoughts are with the families of those whose lives were taken in this tragedy. The right to peacefully protest is a bedrock of our democracy and the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition remains committed to preserving that right for all. Any forms of vigilantism in our society are unacceptable.”
Having said that many NBA players too voiced their opinions as Kyle Rittenhouse was adjudged not guilty on all counts. Be it CJ McCollum or Karl Anthony Towns, it seems like the NBA stars are once again ready to take a stance on such disturbing issues.
