Watch: Markieff Morris and Nikola Jokic get into a dirty –brawl; Gets Ejected from Heats vs Nuggets

Denver Nuggets star player and the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic was ejected after he committed a nasty foul on Miami Heats’ jersey number #8 Markieff Morris. The Nuggets star could face a suspension as his behavior on the court was not only unacceptable but demeaned the sportsman spirit of the game.

His retaliation could have been overlooked because basketball is an aggressive game and the adrenaline rush is way too high but retaliation by hitting other players will cost him some of his next games and maybe a hard fine.

What really transpired between Nikola Jokic and Markieff Morris?

The whole situation seems to be peculiar as Nikola Jokic felt wronged when Markieff Morris openly committed a foul on him at midcourt by putting forward his elbow and crashing into Jokic’s right side. The force by which Markieff collided with Jokic was intense as it sent Nikola to take some steps backward in order to balance himself. Jokic reciprocated with equal intensive force and pushed Markieff back using his arm but who knew that shove could be a possible career-ending push?

The whole situation has been just a mere tussle of action executed in the heat of the moment but the fact that Jokic’s push could cause Morris a serious spinal cord injury. Morris’s head suffered from hypertension and could also experience a possible concussion after suddenly being shoved by Nikola.

Nikola in the post-match conference explained his stance by stating,

“It’s a stupid play. I feel bad… I think it was a dirty play and I just needed to protect myself. I am not supposed to react that way… it happens. I feel bad. I am not supposed to react that way but I got to protect myself… it was just in the moment.”

Miami Heats Head coach Erik Spoelstra also conveyed his thought over Jokic pulling off a dangerous foul on Markieff,

“That was a very dangerous and dirty play. Keef took a foul and it was one of those fastbreak-take fouls and he did with his shoulder. You might deem that maybe as a little bit more than just slapping somebody but after watching it on film it was a take foul. That’s how I saw it. And the play after that’s just absolutely uncalled for.”

Even though Jokic left with a triple-double of 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists and the Nuggets won against the Heats by 113-96, this surely is a lesson that everyone would remember and would try not to repeat.

Nikola Jokic’s foul can be justified but his intention can’t be manipulated into something evil as well. Hope the officials will reach a verdict that offends neither side.
