The Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics this year have been the most successful for India, with the nation seeing a vat majority of achievements and athletes scripting themselves in the history books. From the likes of Neeraj Chopra and Lovlina Borgohain, to the men’s hockey team, Pramod Bhagat and Devendra Jhajharia, these athletes have made the whole nation turn over a new tide for sports.

Bringing home a total of 7 medals from Tokyo, India had its best medal haul till date. The Paralympics did not fail to impress either, with the Indian para athletes bringing home 19 medals; more than the complete previous Paralympics combined tally. All athletes were felicitated and awarded for their hard work and success by everyone including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During this felicitation organised by the Government, PM Modi had a candid chat with the athletes, and several of them gave him their equipment from the Games, and even signatures on a stole. These items were planned to be auctioned on 17th September, Narendra Modi’s birthday. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Namami Gange Mission, aimed at conserving and rejuvenating the holy river Ganga.

Neeraj Chopra’s Javelin Currently Handsome Amount; Borgohain’s Gloves Receive High Bid

The javelin presented by Neeraj Chopra had a base price of 1 crore, which has quickly risen to 1.5 crore on the very first day of the auction. Lovlina Borgohain’s boxing gloves currently have the highest bid amount of any, with an astounding 1.97 crores being put into the pot.

Tokyo Paralympian and Gold Medal winner Sumit Antil‘s Javelin has reached a price of 1 crore. The women’s hockey team stick with all their signatures and belonging to Captain Rani Rampal has also reached a bid of 1 crore.

PV Sindu‘s racket and bag from the Tokyo Olympics have seen the highest price of 90 lakh but is expect to rise even further, and the same can be said for Pramod Bhagat. Finally a stole with the signatures of Tokyo Olympic players has been on bid and reached a price of 90 lakh.

The bidding process will go on for another 20 days, and will end on 7th October.
