The world was shocked when former NFL coach and legendary broadcaster John Madden passed away a little while ago. The 85-year old was a force to reckon with in the world of the NFL. His exploits as a coach and as a broadcaster can never be forgotten.

Not only this, the multifaceted personality ventured into the world of video games as well and as expected, enjoyed unprecedented success. He led the then-Oakland Raiders to their first-ever Super Bowl victory in 1977 and enjoyed a decade-long successful stint with the Raiders as well.

Indeed, the impact he has had on the world of football, video games, and the number of people he has inspired across the globe will never be forgotten. Remembering the legend, NFL head coaches from different teams had a lot to say. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said, “You realize how much he has touched the football world and all of us, our job, what it is today, as a coach, he made it an honorable position to be in.”

Mike Vrabel claimed that John would send text messages of encouragement to him which helped him a lot when he wad down. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said, “I still have all his voicemails. You don’t erase a John Madden voicemail. You don’t do it, and I never will. I got his text messages, probably will get them framed.”

His passion and detail for the game are unparalleled. Just to be a part of that was a privilege,” said Mike McCarthy, Cowboys head coach. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick stated, “He was a great person. Had multiple great careers, he had a great influence on the game of football, he was a good friend.”
