The NFL 2021 season has officially ended with Los Angeles Rams being the Super Bowl champions. Now, we enter into the offseason where new contracts are signed, old ones are renewed or scrapped altogether. This is the time when teams are looking to add players to their roster to help them win the Super Bowl.

There are many players who will be under the gun this offseason due to their poor performance in the regular season. Chris Broussard on First Things First has compiled a list of top 5 players who are under serious duress entering the offseason.

5. Aaron Rodgers

“This is an odd situation for Aaron Rodgers because he won his second straight MVP, his 4th overall and yet his reputation has diminished a little bit because of yet another playoff failure. And look guy I think he’ll stay in Green Bay but if he does go somewhere else like Denver, Pittsburgh whatever. Wherever he goes the pressure is on him to win a Super Bowl,” Broussard said.

Aaron Rodgers had 4,115 passing yards with 37 TDs and just 4 INTs during the regular season. This is also the 3rd straight year that he has led the Packers to 13 wins. Despite being the No. 1 team in the NFC, the Packers have failed to make a single Super Bowl trip the past four years. There are many rumors going on about Rodgers not being able to win in the playoffs. This raises serious questions on whether the MVP QB is the proper fit to lead a team to the Super Bowl. So, this will be a big offseason for Rodgers.

4. Tua Tagovailoa

“Brian Flores is gone and Tagovailoa is in his third year kinda up and down so far but Brain Flores didn’t believe in him (and) he’s out,’ Broussard added. “Mike McDaniel the new coach has really done nothing but sing to his praises about how good of a fit he is for McDaniels’ offense and all that. This might be the first year guys that he has the full belief and support of the coaching staff and the organization.”

The Dolphins had the worst start to the 2021 season but quickly turned their fate around as they won 6 straight games. Tua Tagovailoa showed everyone that he can be a franchise QB. Now that he has the support of his new head coach, Tagovailoa has a lot of weight on his shoulder to prove his worth heading into the offseason.

3. Kliff Kingsbury/Kyler Murray

“No. 3 we got a duo. In Arizona, Kliff Kingsbury the coach, and Kyler Murray the QB. We know about the controversy that’s going on now. Ther’s that to deal with that outs them both under the microscope. They’ve both improved the team every year that they’ve been there. But Kingsbury yet again had his team in free fall at the end of the year and this is a pattern,” Broussard said naming the Arizona Cardinals’ duo.

If the Cardinals end up in a slump again next year, Kliff Kingsbury is likely to be fired. QB Kyler Murray has to prove he can play at his best the entire regular season and not just manage to stay off of the injury reserve by having a few good games. The head coach-QB duo have tremendous pressure to prove themselves or they both might be out of a job next year,

2. Lamar Jackson

“At No.2 Lamar Jackson. Really the first year of injury in his career, missed five games with the ankle injury but beyond that his play has declined. Ever since he won his MVP a few years ago, every year TDs down, INTs up, passer rating down, even rushing is down. So, Lamar’s gotta prove again that he’s ‘that’ guy,” Broussard said.

Right now Lamar Jackson hasn’t signed a big deal that will let him off the hook. Coming off an injury, decline in production and a play of play that is susceptible to get injury, the Ravens QB has to sign a deal or he’s facing some serious pressure this offseason.

1. Baker Mayfield

“In Cleveland, they have everything else. They’ve got the defense, they’ve got the run game, I think Kevin Stefanski is a good coach, we’re looking at the quarterback. If you can’t make the playoffs even or go deep, it’s the QB and a guy that’s widely popular, that is widely talented told the whole world through his dad Odell Beckham Sr, that you were the problem. The whole city of Cleveland is wondering if he’s is a franchise QB,” Broussard concluded.

Just like Jackson, Baker Mayfield doesn’t have a contract extension. So, the Browns QB is under the most pressure this offseason to prove why he was the No.1 draft pick and that he can be a franchise QB and lead his team to the Super Bowl.
