“It’s the perfect space”: Colin Cowherd reckons Aaron Rodgers should play for Steelers in 2022

With the 2021 NFL season coming to a close for the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hanging up his cleats, the Steelers’ primary need this offseason is a new quarterback. They are one of many teams this offseason that are in the market for a new starting signal-caller.
Head coach Mike Tomlin having said that all options are open at the spot means they could be in the market for the big fish like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers or they could use the quarterbacks they have on the roster now namely, Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins.
It’s not very often that your team can acquire a super bowl winning quarterback with some good years still left in them but that’s the exact situation that Pittsburgh finds itself in right now. Colin Cowherd on a segment of his show ‘The Herd’ breaks down why Pittsburgh is where available quarterbacks should be looking to go this offseason.

Do the Pittsburgh Steelers have the assets to lure a star quarterback

On his show, ‘The Herd’ Colin Cowherd had this to say about why Pittsburgh is the ideal team for any quarterback “I think Pittsburgh for a lot of reasons is the best landing spot. Stable ownership. Draft well. A TON of young offensive pieces. Chase Claypool’s excellent, the tight end from Penn State’s(Pat Freiermuth), Najee Harris is good. O-line’s a little rebuild.”
While he does have great things to say about the Steelers he also showed their flaws, saying “My only concern with them is that Tomlin doesn’t have a great feel for offense in my opinion. I don’t like a lot if his offensive coordinator hires over the years. Don’t like Pete Carroll’s either. Didn’t love Vic Fangio’s. Don’t always love Mike Zimmer’s. My thing with defensive coaches, they don’t quite have the feel I want.”
In addition to the coaching concern, he further added “The second thing is, I do worry a little bit, Tomlin runs a little looser situation. Chase Claypool and Juju Smith-Schuster to me, need to grow up, like fast. Am I walking into that if I’m Russell Wilson? I’ve gotta do a little babysitting with some of my players. I worry a little bit about that, not a ton because what I really want is talent and wide receivers have always been their own personalities.”
However, despite these concerns he sums up the situation very well, saying “I think Pittsburgh’s a really great space. For a veteran like Aaron or Russell or a young person, I get stability, a super bowl winning coach, and a legitimate defense so I don’t have to win shootouts.”
To further emphasize his point, the other teams that are looking for a quarterback only have one of the things mentioned or are in a complete rebuild. Maybe that’ll work for some of the younger guys but for the veterans that want to win right now like Wilson and Rodgers, Pittsburgh is the place to go if they feel they want out of their current situation.
