The Miami Dolphins have done quite a few changes this offseason. This was expected after they failed to make the playoffs last time around. However, if one looks at the defense they have got, it seems like they have hardly done changes to the roster.

Defensive coordinator Josh Boyer is still on the staff after a change in coaches and they have again roped in a number of their own free agents. Linebacker Elandon Roberts, who returned after posting as many as 83 tackles, is a part of the list.

Recently, as reported by ProFootballTalk, Roberts hailed the decision of having the bulk of the unit back to what it was last season. As far as the offense is concerned, a lot of changes have been made after new head coach Mike McDaniel’s arrival.

“I just felt like this is my defense”, Roberts said, as reported by Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post. “I’m a leader on the team and a leader on the defense. It was kind of a no-brainer for me, to be honest with you.” When asked about defensive coordinator Josh Boyer being retained, Elandon said, “I think Josh is going to do a great job and do what he’s been doing since he took over the last two years,” Roberts said. “That’s it.”

The Miami-based franchise would have to really step up their game if they are looking to make their way through to the playoffs in the coming season. Their strategy to keep a combination of experience as well as young players might prove fruitful in the time to come.
