“They provided support for Watson’s proclivities” – Tony Buzbee adds the Houston Texans as defendants in lawsuits against Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans will be joining in as defendants alongside Deshaun Watson and face the civil lawsuit for sexual harassment and assault

Trouble seems to be pouring in from all sides for Deshaun Watson. Women continue to speak up against the Cleveland Browns QB accusing him of sexual misconduct. As of now, Watson has been accused by 24 women of harassment or assault during massage appointments.

The New York Times did a thorough investigation of this matter and found out that Watson had hired over 66 different women in a span of 17 months from 2019 to 2021. New discoveries are made every day in this case that suggest Watson was in fact harassing these women.

Tony Buzbee, attorney for the 24 women suing Deshaun Watson has made a statement in which he is holding the Houston Texans responsible for encouraging Watson’s depraved behavior. “Based on what we have learned from the Houston Police Department, we will soon be joining the Houston Texans organization and others as defendants in the ongoing lawsuits against Deshaun Watson. Our team has thoroughly vetted each case. We are considering many others. These women are the true heroes in this sordid story. What has become clear is that the Houston Texans organization and their contracting “massage therapy company” facilitated Deshaun Watson’s conduct,” Buzbee’s statement read.

In many of these cases, the Texans provided the opportunity for this conduct to occur. We believe the Texans organization was well aware of Watson’s issues, but failed to act. They knew or certainly should have known. The Houston Texans organization provided rooms for Watson at the high-end Houstonian hotel for his “massages”; the Texans also provided massage tables and other support for Watson’s proclivities-ostensibly to protect their “asset.” We intend to make sure all involved in Watson’s conduct are held accountable, in addition to and including Watson himself.”

Ashley Solis, one of the prime accusers of Watson

Buzbee claims that the team had to know about Watson’s activities. During the QB’s deposition, he mentioned that Brent Naccara, a former Secret Service agent and the Texans’ director of security placed an NDA in his locker after the screenshots of Watson’s chats with one of the masseuses went viral on social media. Following this, he used to take an NDA to every one of his appointments and made the masseuses sign them. Watson further stated that the Texans had provided him with a suite at The Houstonian where he used to dine, use the gym, and set up massages in rooms. He has explicitly expressed that the organization knew nothing of his massage appointments.

Buzbee finds this hard to believe that a team is unaware of its star QB’s day-to-day actions. That is why he has decided to add the Texans as defendants in the civil lawsuit. The disappointing thing is that two grand juries in Texas have found Watson ‘not guilty’ in the criminal charges against him. Furthermore, even if Watson is found guilty and suspended from the NFL, he would still rope in $230 million as the Cleveland Browns signed a five-year fully guaranteed contract with the QB. Now that a powerful organization is being added as defendant in the lawsuit it won’t be a surprise if they are absolved of the charges since the billionaire owner probably has friends in high places that can help them. Let’s hope the guilty party is found and justice is served to those that have been wronged.
