Tom Brady and Joe Burrow

Cinncinati Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow is having a great season after coming off of his injury. Despite tearing his ACL last season, Burrow has been at the top of his game this year.

The Bengals are on a streak after winning back-to-back games. It looks like they are determined to make the playoffs this season. However, they must first defeat the mighty Kansas City Chiefs to enter the playoffs.

If Joe Burrow stays on his current path, he might be the greatest quarterback of all times

Domonique Foxworth appeared on Friday morning’s edition of First Take and made a pretty bold statement regarding Joe Burrow. He said that Burrow is a better quarterback than young Tom Brady was. “If his skill is gonna escalate the same way that Tom Brady’s, we’re looking at maybe the best quarterback in the history of the game,” Foxworth said.

Burrow has had a great season so far. He has thrown 4,165 yards for 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He had his best game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. The Bengals QB threw for 525 yards and four touchdowns. The Ravens couldn’t manage to contain Burrow as they simply stood by and watched him completely destroy their defense.

“It’s a fair comparison”: Foxworth on comparing Burrow’s to young Brady

Foxworth said that young Tom Brady’s stats including the passing yards, turnover to interception ratio are nowhere near Joe Burrow’s. Tom Brady was 22nd in passing yards following his first Super Bowl win in his rookie season. On the other hand, Joe Burrow has been “When Joe Burrow plays well, this team wins. When they put the ball in his hands and let him throw a lot on early downs, the Bengals blow other teams out”, said Foxworth.

Domonique said that it is fair to compare Joe Burrow to young Tom Brady. He said that Burrow is a great passer than Tom Brady ever was in his rookie seasons. During his 2001 season when he started as QB for the Patriots, Brady threw for 2843 yards with 18 TDs and 12 INTs. Burrow on the other hand threw for 2688 yards with 13 TDs and 5 INTs in just 11Weeks. He suffered a painful ACL and MCL injury which ruled him unfit to play the remainder of the season.

So according to the stats, it seems that Joe Burrow might be a better QB than young Tom Brady. However, to achieve the same success as Tom Brady during his entire career is something that Burrow’s is still left to do. The Bengals are now one win away from clinching the AFC North. Looks like Joe Burrow will lead the Bengals into the playoffs and get them their first playoff win since 1991.
