“Black quarterbacks doing the job”: Justin Fields reckon Lamar Jackson is one of the best in the NFL

Before the game against the Ravens, young quarterback Justin Fields had a few things to say about Lamar Jackson.

The Baltimore Ravens have had a relatively stop-start season this time around. They have registered a few impressive wins, but haven’t been able to establish winning momentum with a flurry of back-to-back wins. Moreover, in their last encounter, the Dolphins handed them a humiliating defeat.

Lamar Jackson, who is often the ‘go-to’ man who guides his side out of trouble, has shown glimpses of his class this time around but hasn’t been as good as he would have liked, at least in a couple of games. However, Bears quarterback Justin Fields reckons that he is one of the best in the business.

Prior to their game against the Ravens, young QB Fields claimed that not many can do what Lamar has done and is capable of executing. “There’s not many guys who are like Lamar Jackson,” Fields said. “He does stuff that some receivers, running backs can’t even do.”

Just all of the backlash he got coming out of college saying he was a running back and stuff like that, he’s just proving everybody wrong and, of course, he’s one of the best in the league right now,” he added. Fields went on to add that it is good to see young Black quarterbacks doing the job.

We don’t have to be old-fashioned Pro-style passers to get the job done. It just shows that it’s kind of a new wave coming and that athletic guys can play quarterback also,” Fields added. Fields is an exciting young prospect who is expected to get better with experience.

He has just seven starts till now, but has shown a lot of promise. The Ravens are set to take on Bears in their next game and after a morale-shattering loss against the Dolphins and a marginal victory over Vikings prior to that, Lamar and Co. would look to deliver a ruthless performance, while Fields would look to stop the Ravens from doing so.
