A new season comes with new expectations, but for the New York Jets, the year 2023 could be one of the best in their recent history. The signing of Aaron Rodgers has renewed hope for the New York franchise. Rodgers has faith in his attack but claims it’s not his offense.
In the recent segment of the Jets’ post-training press conference, wide receiver Allen Lazard tried to pump the team by saying that it’s “Rodgers’ offense”. But the 39-year-old Rodgers cleared that he may be calling the shots from the center, but the credit goes to offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
“I am not going to say it’s ‘my’ offense,” said Rodgers during the Jets press conference. He continued, saying that it was similar to what he had success in the past. “It’s one I’ve had success in, for sure. In 2020, it was a conglomeration of Matt LaFleur and what Hackett had run in the past.” The Super Bowl-winning quarterback insisted that the past and the present fit together nicely. He also promised to bring some “West Coast flavor to it.”
The 10-time Pro Bowler highlighted that Hackett will be the main man from the sidelines calling the offensive shots. Rodgers said, “This is really Hackett’s offense. I love it, but there is a lot of teaching for sure.”
Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back MVPs in 2020 and 2021 when Hackett was the Green Bay offensive coordinator. Jets fans will be hoping that this partnership can bring some positive results to the Big Apple. But their biggest fear is that the Jets are on this year’s Hard Knocks.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers compares Garrett Wilson with Davante Adams

The Jets are still learning Aaron Rodgers’ style of play. Since the 2023 season is just around the corner, they only have a short amount of time left to grasp the ins and outs of his tactics. Garrett Wilson, however, is quite confident that with Rodgers, they can reach the Super Bowl.
“I ain’t gonna fake it; we want to win the Super Bowl,” Wilson told the media on Thursday after the Jets finished their first official training day. Rodgers himself is quite pleased with the progress of the 22-year-old, who is into his second season. He even compared Wilson to Davante Adams, whom he admires as one of the top wideouts in the NFL.
“I love Davante. He is in a category all by himself,” Rodgers claimed. “That 17 [Adams] reminds me of the other 17 [Wilson].” Both Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson wear No. 17.
Moreover, he did not leave out the rookies, and he is pleased with what he has witnessed in such a short period. Breece Hall, Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis, and Tyler Conklin are still learning the ropes of Rodgers’ playcalling.
“We have to assimilate those guys into what we’re doing. It was good to see Mecole get some opportunities, and ‘Conk’ had a nice pass catch,” Rodgers said. They have to speed things up as their season begins on September 12 against the Buffalo Bills.
