Monday night saw the Philadelphia Eagles record a come-from-behind 21-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs—a replay of last season’s Super Bowl. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was pumped with ‘minor revenge’, and it showed after the match, which Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay did not appreciate.

Winning a crunch game means bragging rights, and usually, that is directed at the fans, and Sirianni wasted no time in expressing his feelings. While entering the Arrowhead tunnel, he shouted, 

Hey! I don't hear any sh*t anymore, Chiefs fans! See ya!

It should not come as a surprise that it won’t go down well with the Chiefs faithful. And it came from one of the more vocal players on the Kansas roster. Willie Gay is known to be very active on social media when it comes to voicing his opinions, and this is no different. The 25-year-old commented on Sirianni’s video shared on Instagram.

He wrote,

Nick Sirianni lauded the Eagles players’ performances in their win over the Chiefs

Both teams went into the game with the best record in their respective divisions. The Chiefs were 7-2 and Eagles 8-1 before the prime-time game. It was hard to distinguish between the two sides, and several analysts predicted a battle of attrition, which did indeed happen on the night.

Neither Patrick Mahomes nor Jalen Hurts were able to stamp their authority as a ball-passer, throwing several turnovers. A dropped catch during the dying moments of the game handed the NFC leaders their ninth win of the season. After the game, Sirianni highlighted that it was the ‘grit’ of his players that fueled them to take home all the points on the night.

Whoever was going to win that game was going to do it gritty, grimy, nasty, all those adjectives. It was going to be that way, and the guys just stayed together and kept fighting and grinding out.

Their run game was not working, so the onus was on the defense to cover for their shortcomings. They managed to keep the Chiefs limited to 168 yards on the ground.

It wasn't pretty, but [there was] resiliency; they just kept fighting and kept staying together, and it was a good team win.

The Philadelphia Eagles sit comfortably at the top seed in the NFC with a 9-1 record. On the other hand, the Chiefs slipped to second place behind the Baltimore Ravens, 7-3 in the AFC.
