Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy makes shocking revelation about Dak Prescott’s under-used weapon to beat Tom Brady in crucial playoff tie

The NFL playoffs have had an exhilarating start, and only a single game remains in the Wildcard round this week. The much-anticipated clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is slated to be played late on Monday Night Football.

The Dallas Cowboys finished second in the NFC East division with a regular season record of 12-5. However, despite having a much better record than their counterparts, the Cowboys are slated to start as the underdogs in the heavyweight clash.

Tom Brady‘s presence alone has tipped the scales for the Buccaneers. The seven-time Super Bowl winner has a perfect record against the Cowboys and will have a chance to build on it.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, however, is not ready to throw the towel in just yet. The veteran completely believes in the abilities of his quarterback Dak Prescott to come up with a positive result against the Buccaneers.

McCarthy revealed one of the traits that Prescott might use more coming Monday night is his running ability, something which he doesn’t use often. He claimed that he has never discouraged Dak Prescott from running on the pitch and urged him to use it more.

“To be honest, I’ve never told Dak not to run,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said. “If anything, I encourage him to ignite the scramble drill more because it was something that was non-existent before I got here. I think it’s gotten better each year.”

“I think he’s really good at it, but at the end of the day, you can’t push, particularly your quarterback, to play this way. He just has to trust the play call, be aggressive with the adjustments, and play the play,” McCarthy said.

Dak Prescott’s lack of ability with the foot might be because of the ankle injury that he suffered back in 2020. This theory is also vindicated by the fact that he’s scored only 2 rushing touchdowns over the past couple of seasons. This is in stark contrast to the 6 rushing touchdowns he scored in his first three seasons.

Prescott has had a difficult season so far, but all of that will be forgotten if he comes up with a strong showing against the Buccaneers.
