The Las Vegas Raiders added a new quarterback to their roster on Monday. The Raiders agreed to terms on a 3-year $67.5 million contract with the former 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. While the Raiders’ head coach Josh McDaniels might be excited about reuniting with his former Patriots quarterback, the Raiders’ star wide receiver Davante Adams doesn’t seem to be happy about the trade.
The Raiders signed Davante Adams to a five-year $140 million contract last off-season. Adams, who spent his first 8-years with the Green Bay Packers, decided to sign with the Las Vegas-based football team in 2022 free agency primarily because of his college teammate and his best friend Derek Carr. However, the Raiders surprisingly moved on from Carr last month.
Adams who signed with the Raiders mainly because of Carr was obviously unhappy about the whole situation. But it seemed like things will work out for him in Vegas after rumors spread around the league that Adam’s form teammate Aaron Rodgers might sign with the Raiders. The 3-time All-Pro receiver also strongly hinted at a possible reunion just last month. However, it didn’t pan out that way and the Raiders had to settle for the veteran 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
Jimmy Garoppolo, spent the last six seasons with the 49ers and reached the Super Bowl during that time. Besides, he had a good run last season throwing for 2,437 yards and 16 touchdowns while throwing just 4 interceptions in the 11 games that he played.

The Raiders, who are in desperate need of a starting quarterback after losing Carr, were able to rope in the 2-time Super Bowl Champion Jimmy Garoppolo to their franchise.
Amidst this situation, the 30-year-old wideout Davante Adams shared a cryptic message on social media following the news about Garoppolo’s move to Las Vegas. “If we haven’t talked in the last 3 weeks don’t hit me about this s***. Thanks,” Adams wrote on his Instagram story.
Now, it is unsure whether the message is related to the Raiders’ signing of Jimmy G or about something else, but the timing of the post suggests it was about the QB situation. Anyway, the 6-time Pro Bowl wide receiver still has 4 years left in his contract with the Raiders and unless he gets traded or retires, he’s stuck with the franchise for the foreseeable future.
Nonetheless, Adams will still play at a high level no matter who is throwing the ball, but good chemistry between a QB and a wide receiver is very important for their respective game. The 6’1″ receiver might need some time to work on that element with his new signal-caller.
