DeAndre Hopkins was reportedly unsettled in Arizona since the start of the offseason. There were rumors that the prolific WR would like to be traded to greener pastures.

However, not a single move came to fruition due to various hiccups, and Hopkins finds himself at the training camp of the Arizona Cardinals yet again. There were strong reports that Hopkins would complete a move to another team before the draft.

Regardless, the NFL draft has been over and the WR is unlikely to go someplace else now. The 30-year-old WR recently took to Instagram to give an update on his future. Hopkins stated that he never desired to leave Arizona and strongly believes in staying with the Cardinals in the future as well. However, fans can’t determine the reason behind the change.

“I see everybody telling me to stay,” DeAndre Hopkins stated on Instagram. “Who said I wanna go? Who said I wanna leave? I’m out here working, baby.” Hopkins also shared his desire to either play for the Buffalo Bills or the Kansas City Chiefs. However, his move to either of those teams didn’t come to fruition.

Nonetheless, even if the 30-year-old WR stays with the Cardinals, he is expected to receive a massive pay-check for the remaining two years of his service and he probably won’t deny the money.

The Cardinals signed DeAndre Hopkins on a massive deal that made him one of the highest-paid receivers in the country. The WR is set to make $19.4 million in 2023 and will make $14.9 million in 2024.

In hindsight, this is lots of money for an aging WR who currently struggles with injury. His speed has also been affected in the past year and NFL teams believe that signing him is a huge gamble.

Even if any team decides to approach Hopkins for a potential trade, he won’t be able to get a raise. The prolific WR earns a lot compared to the game-time he puts in.

DeAndre Hopkins has missed 15 games in the past two seasons and has played just 19 due to injuries. Not only that, he has also failed to deliver a 1000+ yard season since 2020. This indicates that his form has faltered and age has finally caught up to him.
