The Arizona Cardinals are having a mini rebuild as they hired a new head coach, Jonathan Gannon, to lead their franchise. The former head coach Kliff Kingsbury and GM Steve Keim have both left the Cardinals after an abysmal 2022 season where they finished dead last in the NFC West with a 4-13 record. And now, it seems like their star wideout DeAndre Hopkins might get traded before the 2023 season.

The Cardinals‘ new general manager Monti Ossenfort has made it clear that he does not want to trade their number 1 pass catcher DeAndre Hopkins. Although the 30-year-old wideout keeps entertaining trade rumors. In that trend, the 5-time Pro Bowl receiver has recently come out and listed the qualities he is looking for in a team and has named some quarterbacks he wants to join forces with.

During his recent appearance on the I AM Athlete podcast, the 3-time All-Pro receiver claims he wants upper management stability which he doesn’t have with the Cardinals. “What I want is stable management upstairs,” Hopkins stated. “I think that’s something that I haven’t really had the past couple years of my career coming from Houston to being in Arizona; I’ve been through three to four GMs in my career.”

Just a few days ago, the explosive receiver Hopkins put a stop to the trade rumors by claiming he doesn’t want to leave Arizona. However, now he has once again added fuel to the trade speculations.

After revealing that he wants upper management stability in an NFL franchise, DeAndre Hopkins went on to claim that he also would like to play with a QB that just loves the game.

“A QB who loves the game, a QB who brings everybody on board with him, pushes not just himself but people around him. I don’t need a great QB — I’ve done it with subpar QBs — just a QB who loves the game like I do,” said Hopkins.

No, Hopkins is not taking a shot at the Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray with that claim. Hopkins assured that Murray loves the game as much as he does, but he’s currently injured and could potentially miss most of the 2023 season. Nonetheless, the 6’1″ wide receiver listed 5 signal-callers he would love to play with. They are Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert.

Despite the new general manager’s claims that he does not intend to trade his star wide receiver, it’s highly likely DeAndre Hopkins could be traded as a part of the mini rebuild in Arizona. When and where remains a question to be answered by time.
