The New York Jets have taken rapid strides during the 2023 offseason in a bid to improve their roster ahead of the new season. The franchise has roped in veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to take over the No.1 spot along with key offensive signings.

The Jets are looking for a massive upheaval following their disappointing 2022/23 season which saw them finish fourth in the AFC East division with a 7-10 record overall. So far, all signs point towards a better upcoming season for the franchise, as has been vindicated by head coach Robert Saleh’s confidence.

Saleh has already predicted big things for them this season, labeling them as one of the contenders for the Super Bowl alongside 5-6 other teams, and it seems he’s not the only one to do so. Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky also made a bold prediction for the Jets during his latest appearance on ESPN’s Get Up podcast.

In particular, Orlovsky pinpointed the spring in the step of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, something that he feels wasn’t necessarily there during the previous seasons. He felt that Rodgers will want to prove his doubters wrong after he made the blockbuster trade move to the Jets from the Green Bay Packers after 17 years.

“[He’s] refreshed, energized, he’s excited and happy while also having the chip on his shoulder. And maybe the chip on the shoulder isn’t as outwardly expressed in May as much as we could potentially see in September and October, but it is absolutely there,” Orlovsky said.

“He got run out of town in Green Bay. But now, he’s got that chip on his shoulder that ‘I’m going to prove everybody wrong and that I’m still the baddest dude on the planet while also being excited about where he is, and who he’s doing it with. And I think the Jets are in this very unique space: there are two teams that I think are the most equipped to beat Kansas City,” he continued.

Orlovsky heaped praises on the New York Jets defense, claiming that they will indeed be one of the best defenses that Rodgers will play with in his career. Making a bold prediction once again, Orlovsky hyped them up as one of the two teams in the NFL, best equipped to defeat the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

“One is Buffalo. Everyone keeps sleeping on Buffalo,” Orlovsky explained. “And then the other is the New York Jets. Those are the one-two to go knock off Kansas City and get back to the Super Bowl. I think this is the best defense that Aaron has ever played with. He played with one really, really good defense in Green Bay in like 2010, and they won the Super Bowl. This will be the best defense he’s played with.”

While predictions can be fun to make, the responsibility will eventually lie on Aaron Rodgers and co. to fulfil the expectations that have already started to build up surrounding the Jets this season.
