“Assault, not rape”: Police revise charges against Darius Anderson in a burglary case, blames the matter on a “coding error”

Darius Anderson

Darius Anderson, the running back for the Houston Texans was recently arrested over charges of burglary and a supposed intent to commit assault after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house last week. On Friday, Anderson broke into the Houston residence and followed her into the bathroom.

The woman was extremely scared and locked herself in the bathroom from where she called the cops. Darius fled the scene once the police were called. He was arrested shortly after. The biggest confusion was the charges the Texans RB was being held for. Initially, it was ‘burglary with intent‘ to rape but this was later changed to ‘burglary with intent to commit assault.’

This reportedly happened due to a coding error that was later corrected by the department. The Houston Texans issued a statement over the allegations against the running back, “We are aware of the report involving Darius Anderson. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time.”

A native of Richmond, Texas. he became an undrafted rookie who was signed by the Dallas Cowboys, he was later cut from the team and went to the Indianapolis Colts. He joined the Texans last year and recently signed a futures deal as well. He is yet to play in an NFL game.

Anderson went to TCU where he recorded a total of 768 yards rushing in his sophomore year and 598 yards in his junior year. The running back’s arraignment is set to take place on Wednesday. The Houston Texans seem to be riddled with a lawsuit problem this offseason as the team recently settled with 30 of Deshaun Watson’s accusers and now the team may end up getting involved here as well.
