Patrick Mahomes had a funny response via Twitter on Saturday to a graphic about “Sunday Night Football.”. The Sunday Night Football Twitter handle shared the years that the AFC QBs are entering in the upcoming 2023 season.
The Chiefs QB will be entering his seventh season as an NFL player, sharing it with Deshaun Watson from the Browns. Only behind the likes of Aaron Rodgers of the Jets (19 years), Russell Wilson of the Broncos (12 years), and Jimmy Garoppolo of the Raiders (10 years).
Mahomes, thus far, has had an amazing career. In his first six years as a professional player, Mahomes reached the Super Bowl three times, winning twice. He was even selected as the MVP twice as well. Mahomes is already on track to become one of the greats of the game going forward.
The 27-year-old Mahomes has racked up 192 TDs compared to 49 interceptions, with an accuracy of 66.3%.
The graphics made him realize that he was no longer the new kid on the block. “Dang! I got old quick {laughing emojis},” said Mahomes in his tweet. Even though it may feel like the soon-to-be 28-year-old has been part of the NFL for a while, he still has a long road ahead.

Coach reveals how Patrick Mahomes trains to get even better
Mahomes is undoubtedly one of the best QBs in the NFL, and he works as hard as the next guy. Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy revealed how he trains Mahomes to get even better. Everyone needs tips, tricks, and training in order to improve further. Heck, even Tom Brady, the best quarterback in NFL history, has had his flaws.
Nagy said Mahomes is always working hard to improve on the previous years and make the records even better. “He does so many things well,” Negy said, praising Mahomes’ commitment. He also mentioned, “You can always go back to footwork and timing with any quarterback.”
Nagy said Mahomes made some excellent plays last year that worked really well into that third, fourth, and sometimes fifth progression in the play.
Although Mahomes will be looking to replicate the previous season, he just needs to be consistent. He is good enough to achieve that. It’s definitely a great show of faith from the coaching team in its players, not hiding the fact that even the best players can improve individually and collectively as a team.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes will kick off their 2023 NFL season against the Detroit Lions on September 8.
