With just two weeks left for the start of NFL free agency, teams are preparing to make multiple roster moves in hopes of building a team that can compete for the coveted Lombardi Trophy. During this time of the year, rumors fly high about how teams want to move on from their players and so on. In that trend, the most famous rumor this off-season so far is how the Chicago Bears are willing to trade their star quarterback Justin Fields away in hopes of finding their new QB in the NFL Draft.

The Chicago-based football team holds the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Due to this reason, many NFL insiders, including Jason La Canfora and Dov Kleiman, reported the Bears are looking to trade Justin Fields in return for draft capital and select their future franchise quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s a rumor that has been going on for a long time, ever since the Bears got the first overall pick.

However, now there is a twist in the tale. According to ESPN senior reporter Jeremy Fowler, the Bears are expected to stick with their dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields, and trade down from the first overall pick to get more picks. Most people assumed this is the case from the beginning, since Fields has proven that he has the potential to become the long-time signal-caller in the league.

Fans on social media thrashed NFL insiders Jason La Canfora and Dov Kleiman for reporting that Justin Fields might be on the trade block despite having a solid season.

The Chicago Bears were deprived of a good QB for a long time until they drafted the talented Ohio State QB Fields to lead their team. In the two seasons, he has shown promise, and it’d be foolish of the Bears to let him go in search of another QB.

During the two seasons with the bears so far, the 23-year-old QB has started 25 games. In these games, he has thrown for 4112 yards and 24 touchdowns. Furthermore, the dual-threat QB has also rushed for 1563 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Now that he has overcome his rookie mistakes, the 6’3″ QB will only get better with time and the Bears should concentrate on building a team around him instead of trying to trade him away. Besides, they do have the draft capital and cap space to make themselves a contender in the near future with Fields under center.
