The 2023 NFL season will not be as exciting for the fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team has had a rollercoaster ride in the last 3 years. They went from being one of the worst teams in the league that had a quarterback in Jameis Winston, who threw more interceptions than touchdowns, to having their entire fortunes turn around when Tom Brady shook the league with his decision to leave the Patriots and make the move to Tampa.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl in the first year that Tom Brady was their QB. This led to a massive upsurge in the fan following of the team. The Bucs had not been this relevant in years and overnight; the team had become one of the best teams in the entire NFL.

Along with an increase in fans, the Tampa Bay Bucs accordingly increased their ticket prices as well. It comes as no surprise that the team had the fifth most expensive ticket in the entire league, as per Darren Rovell, in 2022, with an average ticket costing an individual $359. This trend of rising ticket prices has continued in 2023 for many different sports events. Research on ticket prices has revealed that some fans are expected to pay exorbitant amounts just for the opportunity to experience live events firsthand.

However, now that Tom Brady has officially retired, the team appears to be in an unfortunate position once again. Fans are not as interested or excited about the team’s games this season in contrast to previous years.

Season ticket holders who took advantage of the resale market in the previous years may have made the best decision of their lives, as from this season onwards, there would be little to no demand for tickets for the team’s games. Ticket prices in the league are related to the respective NFL team and the likelihood of the team making the Super Bowl. If a roster has multiple Pro Bowlers, entertaining players, and show-stoppers, the ticket prices for the games of that team will be high.

Tampa Bay witnessed that in the past 3 years and this season, the team does have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and a decent defense, however, the team has lost its center of attraction, Tom Brady. The Bucs have a complicated quarterback situation right now. Sure, they got Baker Mayfield from the Los Angeles Rams but he is not going to attract as many fans as Tom Brady did. The GOAT effect is real and this goes to show how an NFL team can struggle if they do not have big names on their roster.

Due to the changes in the team, and the retirement of Tom Brady, the Bucs’ ticket prices have now witnessed a considerable slump. The average ticket price for a Bucs game is now $179. The real winner in the NFL ticket battle this season is Tom Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots. The team has the most expensive tickets this season for their opening-day game. This is because of the fact that the team will be honoring TB12 for his achievements. The average ticket is priced at $1,022 for the Pats’ opening day game.
