The Green Bay Packers managed to win 27-24 against the New England Patriots over the weekend but they were nowhere near their best levels. Additionally MVP Aaron Rodgers too had an extremely disappointing performance which was pointed out by many.

The Packers were up against rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe but still weren’t able to capitalise. Aaron Rodgers didn’t have an especially good first half with an 11.2 passer rating while completing 4 of 11 throws for 44 yards.

Aaron Rodgers came under some criticism from NFL analyst Colin Cowherd due to his selfish performance against the New England Patriots. On the Herd with Colin Cowherd podcast, he said that Aaron Rodgers can’t only keep throwing the ball to his buddies and completely ignoring the young wide receivers.

Green Bay can beat you one way. It’s got to be close, mostly low scoring. They can’t get in a shootout. If the young receivers… make some mistakes, Aaron ghosts [them]. You can see Matt LaFleur once again going to reverses to get Christian Watson involved. You can’t just throw to your buddies. It’s not the way it works.”

This way of winning, I don’t think, is sustainable because it puts too much pressure on our defense,” Rodgers said. “And obviously, I’ve got to play better and will play better.I settled in and usually don’t have two terrible halves. So I kind of returned to the form I expect from myself, and we started moving the football.”

You can’t be 2-2 losing to a third-string quarterback and not playing great in all three phases, so we had to have this one,” Rodgers said. “That doesn’t take anything away from the joy of winning, but this was one we had to have.”
