Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are considered the powerhouse player-coach duo of the Patriots’ golden era, during which they won six Super Bowl titles. However, all good things have to come to an end. The parting of the two left a taste in every football fan’s mouth, as most of them suspected a rift between the two legends. The media has been the most critical when it comes to defining the relationship between Brady and Belichick. There were rumors flying around that Brady joined the Buccaneers because of a fallout with Belichick. Speculations aside, there is some merit to the claim because Brady was still an MVP-caliber quarterback at Tampa. This begs the question: if the relationship between the two was great, then why did Brady choose to leave? But there seems to be mutual respect between the pair, as they both appeared on the SiriusXM podcast after Brady’s retirement.

Moreover, Brady gave an interview to PFT (Pro Football Talk) and said that he was “very fortunate” to play under the tutelage of Belichick. He clarified that while they might not always see “eye to eye,” they were always on good terms. Brady even revealed that Belichick was the first to call him after he won his seventh Super Bowl in Tampa.

Bill Belichick claims it was a privilege to coach Tom Brady

Bill Belichick himself acknowledged that he only has gratitude for Brady. The 71-year-old recently revealed that he would not have achieved what he had without Brady. He issued a heartfelt statement when Brady chose to hang up his boots in 2022.

Fast forward to the present day: Tom Brady recently became a minority stakeholder in the Las Vegas Raiders. Rumors have also started to flow that the 45-year-old may even play for them in the upcoming season. With their newest star quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, injured without even playing a second for them, they could turn to Brady.

It’s not impossible, as current Raiders coach Josh McDaniels and Brady know each other from their time at the Patriots. McDaniels was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach until 2008, eventually moving on to the Denver Broncos.
